Brahmos Supersonic Cruise Missile : News, Updates and Discussions

Right now we are completely ill prepared to fight any war. Our mechanised forces are completely junk, we don't have enough wheeled platforms for rapid deployment, no proper attack helicopter, no sizeable 3rd gen ATGM, zero night fighting capability, no secure communication, no net centric capability, no TBM etc.

Heck we aren't even modernising our artillery despite having multiple platforms instead we are dragging them in the name of trials.

All the indigenous alternative of the above said short comings are available but we are more interested in kick backs and useless over expensive imports.

Sometimes I feel our generals and security planners should be tried for treason.

We have some or most of those. Whatever's very important, we have all of those in some capacity. Whatever's moderately important, like the ATGMs, we have 2nd gen ones anyway, we have enough capability. Whatever's not as important, like wheeled platforms, it doesn't matter, we didn't have them before, we can make do without them today.

The army has netcentric capability. Only the TCS needs to be developed and inducted, in the meantime we are introducing some stopgap comm systems at the tactical level from Israel.

We have TBM - Prithvi. Pralay replaces Prithvi.

Our army is outdated, but still far more advanced than the PA. So we are relatively modern enough. You gotta compare our army to the PA, not the US Army. The army's main modernisation is expected to take a decade.

But what's really important is the air force, and we significantly outmatch them there.

So we're going to have a Brahmos supersonic with a 450 kms range & a Brahmos hypersonic with a 500 kms range. Does it make sense for the difference in range to be only 50 kms ? ...is among the many questions you're likely to ask ! Of course it does. Brahmos with 500 kms is hypersonic. Besides, it's 2022.

For more elaborate explanations or stories, do keep watching this thread.

The test is part of ongoing user trials for the missile's extended range of around 450km, with the version of the missile used in the launch having an upgraded guidance system as well, reports Sputnik.

"We will come to hypersound via an increase in range. We have already confirmed 400 kilometres, in order to increase the range to 500, it is needed to increase the speed. Now the missile flies at speeds of 2.8 mach. We will achieve the speed of hypersound through modernization, it is more than 4.5 mach," managing co-director of the BrahMos Aerospace company Alexander Maksichev was quoted in the report as saying.

Export range = 290Km
Standard range = 400Km
Extended range = 450Km
Near hypersonic range = 500Km... The 50% boost in speed increases the range of the 450Km version by 50Km.

Further range extensions to 800Km and 1500Km, both near hypersonic, will require redesign and new materials.

“We plan to develop BrahMos hypersonic missile that can attain speeds of Mach 4.5 by 2025. By 2026-27, we want to create a missile that can cruise at Mach 6-7,” Alexander Maksichev, co-director of the Russian-Indian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace, was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti today.

So the near hypersonic missile is expected only by 2025. The date is likely indicative of testing, not induction. The same with the hypersonic version. Does not include potential delays.

Man, analysis is simple, just requires having an IQ above 80 and the basic ability to read and comprehend.

Looks like the storyteller with superior IQ of 180 who's doing all of us a huge favor with his presence here when he could well be a part of Lowy or ORF but chose to be here out of the goodness of his heart , neglected to read or was unable to comprehend what I've written (much like Electric drives = light & hydraulic drives = heavy. Happens when one does engineering thru correspondence course). That we'd have a supersonic Brahmos with 450 kms & a hypersonic Brahmos with 500 kms range.

Here i thought someone has updated bhramos thread with the latest test...

Into enemy territory and got away with it..
Since not even crow or tree is lost this time.

Bro the recent test of brahmos was it's block IV version with a range of 800km.
