Attack Helicopters of IAF - LCH Prachand, AH-64E Apache : Updates & Discussions

Aviation Photo #2602182: Mil Mi-35E - India - Air Force

The small pod like structure on the left side of canon under the chin is the radar. As we have access to these, I think this will be our inspiration.
There was never a requirement as such.

Mi-35 is twice as big. You can't just copy-paste stuff on it. A better comparison would be Z-10 or T129.

More on Turkish development: T129 ATAK Multirole Combat Helicopter and MilDaR Fire Control Radar

They are looking at a weight of 55kg. While Apache's longbow weight 136kg. US marine did not accept AH-1Z with 90kg FCR. This is not a must have feature.

Ok, that could be the reason behind IA/IAF not ordering yet.
They just placed LSP order. Bigger order cannot be placed before that according to DPP.

Is there any plan from HAL to develop a heavy class helicopter like Apachess based on upcoming imrh design?

Why not in LCH & Rudra? HAL/DRDO is acting like USA or what?
I still doubt this news. If adding a missile onto a platform was so easy they would have integrated HELINA onto LCH by now.

For Mi17 they will have to add some way for it to acquire the target at 20km first.

Lots of red flags. First like for example the article says to be used along LAC. Mi17, mind you, have you ever seen a picture of Mi17 resupply in DBO? Only the Chinooks and Chetaah. They have altitude limitations.

Secondly, Forces are a bit crazy about Rudra because it has a very decent self protection system, along with things like crash worth seats, fire suppression systems, etc.

To be able to actually make Mi17V5 able to do something similar will require it getting the similar level of protection.

Buying a handful of NLOS doesn't seem convincing.

But Israel has worked on our Mi35 fleet. It may be possible that this small purchase might be for Mi35 and Apache fleet.

Boeing is absolutely right, but will HAl, DRDO & indigenous weapon lobby will allow this to happen?
Army had AoN for 11 airframes. They bought only 6.

Will be interesting to see if IAF still tries to acquire Apache. Because Army has been telling the MoD that it wants to use attack helicopters from Army Aviation for its formations, not depend on IAF.

And recent ratio of purchases, like the Rudra division between AA and IAF, it seems that MoD agrees with Army.

We have to be realistic, the immense armoured thrust from Pakistan will be through either Rajasthan or punjab, we need to deal with it, then LOC. How many Apaches we required for Pakistan alone? It will be minimum three squadron supported by LCH/Rudra.

When comes to Chinese the Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Assam & Arunachal. So the larger the order for Apache, better for india.

We need to order Apaches the way we ordered MKI or similar number.

Will happen as and when funds are available.

Also keep in mind that budget for foreign imports are getting reduced every year now. So the more crucial items will get preference.
