Another important point that is being said a lot:
Idling of the yards due to no further orders vis-a-vis the next generation of frigates/destroyers, and therefore losing experienced workers/disrupted supply chain.
I used to think the same, but my opinion has changed.
What supply chain are we talking about here??? Every major thing in our frigates & destroyers is imported or more appropriately assembled i.e. screwdrivered.
Turbines, diesel engines & driveshafts are all imported from
or 
or some other european country(
by HAL)
Radars - assembled here but most critical parts are imported from
or

Even in missiles the most critical parts are directly imported & then assembled here.
Barak 8 - seeker assembly comes directly from
Brahmos - Ramjet comes from
Even the fu_cking gun - Oto Melara - has its most critical parts imported from
BC bacha kya????
The actual supply chain is outside India.
So I ask again, what supply chain are people really worried about here??? MDL/GRSE only make the steel shell.
Its actually quiet brilliant
. Since these PSU shipyards only make the steel shell, Indian Navy doesnt have to worry about production line continuity. Thats the headache for foreign companies. I guess its a benefit of globalisation.
(This same thinking backfired in the case of GE404 as they closed the production line)

Well, atleast we make our own warship grade steel
The float component will take time as KMGT is still at the prototype stage.A lot of progress has been made w/regards to sensors, combat mgmt systems, and comms/ew though (fight component)
The Revati radar will soon be joined (actually replaced) by BEL X-band MFR and Tonbo's Wolfpack is giving competition to BEL EON-51 eo/ir system which has been standard fit on most IN combatants.
Apart from VL-SRSAM, the Kusha family, NASM-MR/Brahmos-NG are also on the horizon. Kalyani is working on 76/127mm guns which should give us an alternative to Oto Melara.
All of this should be implemented in the 2030-40 timeframe.
Imo, the only lagging area is TAS with Nagan/ALTAS having failed tests.

Internal layout. Ships are extremely complex, having a good design is very important.
Hull sonar, torpedo, decoys.
Propulsion of barak-8, radar and avions of brahmos, VL-SRSAM.
Battle management system and EW suite. Alk made in india.
And india already has navel radar for ships, Its that our current gen ships are not designed for that.
We are already developed or in very advanced stage of developing Kusha, AD1, NASM-MR, LR-LACM, Diesal engine.
The main thing which we can not indeginious for next 15 years is gas turbin engine, because we dont have one to make its naval variant which is powerful enough to power our main ships(25-30 KW).
Navel radar nahi, naval radar hota hai bhai.
