STAR-03 trial related work , they are going to use the Shaurya launcher. makes sense since the dimensions are similar.

Shaurya has close to 2k km range with a lighter payload. STAR is our desi/cheaper BrahMos equivalent. So 300-500kms range is to be expected, IMO.Range higher than Shaurya ?
Can not tell, but dimension wise the canister is similar to shaurya , so it is better to use the common launcher. This has been done before too else drdo would need to maintain another at extra cost & manpower.Range higher than Shaurya ?
Is it just me or does YJ12 look similar to STAR.I don't expect STAR to be that big of a missile. It should be around the BrahMos system with 3 canister launchers. The Chinese YJ12 system seems to be without a fire control system.

Isn't STAR just meant to be target practice for our AD?Shaurya has close to 2k km range with a lighter payload. STAR is our desi/cheaper BrahMos equivalent. So 300-500kms range is to be expected, IMO.
Yes.Is it just me or does YJ12 look similar to STAR.
That's the initial plan. But having our own 100% BrahMos substitute ain't no bad, is it? Just like we're developing a similar-ranged/specced Akash-NG even though we also have Indo-Israeli MRSAM.Isn't STAR just meant to be target practice for our AD?
