I don't know if downing a plane is a big deal for India or Pak in this theatre- remember both sides were operating under war alert with 24 hour patrols and AWACS and SAM actiations.
India will have to enter some highly defended areas to launch muniitons for strikes. during which time SAMS can get IAF jets. Same with Pak if they try to ingress. This is a HIGHLY alert and narrow geographical field.
There is fog of war. And India didn't make any announcements, because it is clear that India considers the operation ongoing. It is probably better to wait for some briefing before we can compare what we have with what they say.
