Tokyo Flood Prevention | Insane underground tunnel system in Japan!

This project being implemented in Telangana is for a completely different purpose, but is no less in terms of size and complexity. Tunnels (around 300 km) and huge underground pumps are being constructed to transport water across 21 districts.

Can't Japan just summon Godzilla when they want the sea level to go down?

That it may take more than just a few decades to get to that point.
Where's the doubt in that? When Tier -1 cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai etc don't have such a system and they aren't even paper plans to build it , what hope do Tier -3 & 4 cities have? If the latter get it by 2070-80 they can consider themselves fortunate.

If that's the sign of a developed nation, then you may be waiting some time. Even tier 3/4 cities in the UK don't have adequate flood defences. Not sure many do except London.

Paddy, your collective goose was cooked in 1947 itself. What's unfolding today with events like Brexit , etc is a prolonged epilogue. Consider yourself lucky that at least London has it. There's absolutely no hope that the rest of your little towns & counties will get it. You're on your way down. Whereas we're on our way up. What's debated here is the scale & timing of how fast we'd get to where we want to not whether we'd get there or not.

It could be argued that when one starts from the very bottom, of course, the only way is up. We've just peeled off a very large leach, so things should improve for us too.

The only way you could salvage your beleaguered country was if all the ex colonials pooled together their resources & markets. That was the idea behind the EU & something which all the political & biz elites in Europe agreed upon minor quibbles aside. Not anymore though ,in your case for obvious reasons , as I suspect you'd realise before this decade is out.

Funny, some countries were pooling more resources than others. You could form a sort of EU with Pakistan, that would work about as well as the EU. You would play the role of the UK, and they would play the role of Romania.

We already have SAARC. It's a dead organization from it's very inception.

Besides, if you want a captive market, you think you'd get it for free without much investments or throwing money? Which world do you live in Paddy? Or do you think a nation like Romania is a neo colony of yours ?
