This is a thread dedicated for discussion, analysis & observations regarding the various Firearms, Electronics & Protection equipment used by Indian (as well as foreign) combat personnel. Even those pieces of equipment that have not yet been adopted by any force can be put up for discussion so one can keep track of developments in the field across the world.

So any RFI (Request For Information) that the Indian Military/Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) put forth, any new Gun, Optic, Helmet, Vest, Armor technology, Night-Vision equipment, Radio communication gear or Ballistic Eyewear...anything the forces have, are planning to get, or something you think they ought to have - it's all up for debate & opinion.

Para SF with GTAR and Tavor Tar 21 with folding bipod
In the pic:
1. TAR 21 stands for TAVOR assault rifle of 21st century.
The TAR-21 is the standard version of the Tavor. By changing some of the components it can be converted to any version, except for the Micro Tavor. The TAR-21 is usually fitted with the MEPRO 21 or MARS reflex sights.
2. GTAR also known as Tavor GRANADE launcher, which is a TAR-21 fitted with underbarrel grenade launcher and associated sights. In Israeli service the M203 is use. In Indian service the Turkish T-40 grenade launcher is used which replaces the forearm and covers the barrel.

#Update

JVPC hit the Production line to fulfill the Police Forces' needs.
Joint Venture Protective Carbine (JVPC) is also known as Modern Sub Machine Carbine (MSMC). The Modern Sub Machine Carbine (MSMC) is an Indian submachine gun designed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment and manufactured by Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli of the Ordnance Factories Board.

These deadly weapons make our special forces deadly and add an important chuck in the armour for the forces. In the recent times, the Indian ordinance factory is going for a revamp and is planning to replace the foreign gun with Indian ones with specialized feature as per request of the Special Forces. One such example is the corner shot rifle which was made by DRDO post 26/11.With indigenisation of weapons and the men of special forces India is truly secure.

I'm so getting a Tavor next year. ;)
don't. Shot it this year, it's not the sliced bread it's touted to be. For the money, there are better options out there. I was hell bent on getting one, after shooting it, don't feel like it.
Don't buy stuff without shooting it.

Thats a deadly hit squad of Para Sf!
Its usually a 6 member with a buddy pair of 2. This one has 4 members.
Left to right:
Tavors
1. Under barrel Grenade launcher
2. Star-21
3. Tar-21
Last one is holding LMG called Pikka.

I don't see a grenade launcher anywhere. And there's no STAR-21 either.

What's interesting though are what appear to be cameras worn on the helmets of the first three.
