Can a private player open legal small arms manufacturing company in India?

Is it legal to open small arms manufacturing company in India? You know supplying LEA and Military.

I guess not, but which parts of law specifically stops private companies?

Among all the items, guns should not have been needed to be imported. Sure as hell they can be designed and manufactured in India by private businesses for consumption of LEA and Military. May not be ammunition, but guns themselves.

Yes you can open up any industry after due clearances and licenses.

Viability will remain an issue.

Viability will definitely be an issue specially when you don't have open market to sell your products.
BTW why private players aren't allowed compete for international bids?
Or its just competition is too powerful for our private players?

For viability we need to relax Indian gun control laws and introduce US gun culture and bring Guns under Consumer goods and Bullets under FMCG category............
